Knowing who you are
The first step to perfection is to know who you are. In our modern world we taught to judge our value, by our achievements, our possessions, and our flaws.
This leads to a highly unstable sense of self worth, as these things can change. For instance one day a person may be at the top of their career, and then a corporate restructure takes place and they are retrenched. Now they are at the bottom again. The person hasn’t changed, but their external environment has, yet the person thinks that they are somehow less, because of this external event.
Another example is a basically good person having one or two bad habits, that cause them to behave in inappropriate ways. The person then judges themselves as unworthy or fundamentally flawed, because of a few bad habits, instead of noticing all the other good within them.
When you think about this, it becomes obvious that the modern
world has clearly lost its understanding of who we are
and how we ought to see ourselves.
So who are you?
1. You are a Human
You are a human being. Or being a human.
|
The word Human is derived from the Latin word Humus which means, ground, or soil. So a human is a creature taken from the ground. |
Being human simply means you are a physical creature, with a physical body.
2. You are a Divine Soul
The second aspect to who you are is a Divine Soul.
|
The word Soul is from the old english word sawol. The Soul is the dwelling place for the inner life, the place where your sense of self awareness exists. Originally the concept was related to living waters or a living sea from which all souls were believed to orginate. The sea is a symbol of the Divine Spirit. Therefore the original concept tells us that the spirit of God gave birth to our Souls. |
|
The word Divine is derived from the latin word divinus meaning ‘of a god‘. |
So a Divine Soul, is a person born of the light and life of God.
Think about it for a moment, you are born of the light and life of God. Changes the way you see yourself, doesn’t it?
It is important to understand that you aren’t the divine creator. This is a common misconception. You are a child of the divine creator, who has the divine creator’s latent talents, nature and powers.
That is why it is so important for you to have a relationship with your creator. It is like having a relationship with your divine parents.
3. You have a Spirit
There is a third aspect of your nature.
|
You also have a Spirit. From the Latin word Spiritus meaning breath or life force. |
This ‘breath’ is also known as the Divine Spark. And it is the means by which we connect to God.
4. How to see yourself?
What is the best way
|
As you take a moment to see yourself in this way, you can realize that you are not defined by your flaws, your achievements, or your possessions. You are defined by something much greater, much more noble, and much more permanent.
|
You are a child of God, light born, radiating with living energy. A god in this world, a shaper of destiny, an eternal being. You are Great and valuable, worthy of love, and respect — from both yourself and others. You are a living being, with the divine spark within — a gift to this world — a Human Being, of Destiny. |
